Date Night at e11even

My favourite night of the week? Date night.

As the cold weather & snow welcomes us into December, all John & I want to do in the evenings is eat some good food and drink wine. And last weekend, we did just that at e11even.

I am someone who will always look at a menu online before going to eat there. It takes me forever to decide what to eat if I don't haha. So although I had a couple things in mind of what I wanted, luckily, e11even put together a little menu for us with some of the dishes they thought were perfect for the holidays.

It included their surf n' turf gyoza, which is basically a dumpling with beef, crab, & shrimp, and their crab cakes (ugh, yuum). I personally am in love with their tuna tartare, so we also ordered that as well. For our mains, we went with the recommended braised short ribs & a classic filet mignon. Both dishes were cooked beautifully. The short ribs fell off the bone and the filet mignon was cooked to the perfect medium rare.

But the best part of it all? Nick Chajoglou, the sommelier at e11even, helped pair our dishes to the perfect wine. He chose the wine based on how the notes from the wine would compliment the flavours of the specific dish. But if you are a little picky like I am, Nick also told us that he can tailor these pairings based on your own preferences. How he does it? You gotta ask him!

And if you're thinking, "Well Karen, I actually don't like wine at all...", he will present to you an extensive list of cocktails where I'm sure at least one of them will catch your eye. For me, I loved their two Christmas cocktails they just introduced to the menu - La Bronx Befana (for the bourbon lovers) & Christmas Cocchi Spirits (it tasted like the yummiest cranberry juice, but with alcohol hehe). They switch up their cocktails every season to help ensure the ingredients utilized to make the cocktails stay fresh always.

Located in Maple Leaf Square, e11even is just steps away from Union Station / Financial District / Entertainment District. It's easily accessible from wherever you are, and is the perfect spot if you are looking for date night ideas. All you have to do is order what you feel like eating, tell Nick what kind of alcohol you're into, & e11even will take care of the rest!
