Big Daddy's Bourbon Street Bistro & Oyster Bar

Along the streets of King West is a cute bistro that is inspired by the New Orleans cuisine, coupled with the genius addition of an oyster bar.

They pride themselves of providing customers an experience as if they were in the French Quarter.
Being a Vampire Diaries fan (do.not.judge), the French Quarter has made it to my list of 'places I need to go' ever since.

Although they had a lovely patio section outside, we sat inside.
I was happy we chose to sit inside - look how cute it is!

First order of business: oysters
We ordered their Chef's Choice platter, which was a dozen oysters.

And it was delicious! (Disclaimer: I am not an oyster expert. I just eat em!)
As these were priced $2 a piece, you can definitely tell that they were more 'buttery' or in my words, more 'fat'. The last oysters I ate were at Biff's and I could taste the difference as those were only $1 each.
What made them so good though was the sauces. Big Daddy's serves their oysters with 5 homemade sauces, as described here on their site. My favorite was the Habanero Pepper Infused Vodka sauce mixed with the Mignonette.

Next we had the Popcorn Shrimp, which was served with smoked tomato, pepper aioli and Creole-spiced ketchup.

Shrimp & Bronzed Chicken Étouffée, which is a classic Cajun rice dish with sautéed bronzed chicken and shrimp in a tomato pepper garlic saffron sauce.

The popular dish Jambalaya consisted of bronzed chicken, Chorizo sausage and shrimp served with slow-cooked Creole-style rice in a Creole cream sauce.

Dessert: Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream
It was not pictured as we were too excited to devour it. Sorry :)

Overall, M and I enjoyed this restaurant. The service is rather poor though, as our waitress disappeared for a majority of the night and it was difficult to even get water.
We loved the oysters and the rest of the meal was super filling. The appetizers were great, and our main courses were good but a bit too spicy for my liking. The dessert was also devoured extremely fast since the pie was warm while the ice cream was cold and melting (yummm).

Maybe I'll come back to New Orleans for some cocktails on the patio next time!
